Hi there!
My name is Julia Romero.
Welcome to Swim with Julia!
Swimming is kind of a BIG deal to me. I don’t remember a time in my life that doesn’t involve being in the water in some capacity.
I started swim lessons at the age of 4, which transitioned into competitive swimming from the ages of 4-18.
In 2014, I began teaching swimming lessons to children between the ages of 3-14. Alongside that, I have coached competitive swimming since 2015. I have coached a total of 4 seasons of varsity high school swimming (Go Vikings!) and I love every second of it.
Around 2019, I became introduced to the world of ISR. I was so blown away by the skills I saw graduated ISR students have and I was excited at the thought of maybe one day getting to learn more in hopes to bring more awareness to water safety to Albuquerque. I became certified as an ISR instructor in Phoenix, Arizona during the Summer of 2023. I am so thankful for the wealth of knowledge I received through my training. Through these last 10+ years of working in the water, I have learned that I adore getting to motivate, challenge, and encourage each swimmer I get to work with. Being their biggest cheerleader and watching them safely succeed in the water is simply the best!
My biggest joy is getting to share my love for the water with every child, student, parent, and adult I have the honor of teaching. The water has forever changed my life for the better, and I hope that your time with me will reflect the same.
Some fun facts about me:
I met my husband on my high school swim team.
My best stroke while swimming competitively was butterfly, but my favorite event was the 200 backstroke.
I am half Colombian and I speak Spanish.
I have a golden retriever named Malibu.
